CAVC and AAMC COMBINE FORCES FOR DYNAMIC ANNUAL BUSINESS MEETING

The California and Arizona state vending councils combined their annual meetings into one location last October at The Dana Resort in beautiful San Diego. The shared site resulted in higher attendance than in past years, and mutual benefits for both councils from educational and business sessions.

A first attempt at hosting an educational forum at the annual meeting was a huge success. The Coffee Summit/Forum was hosted by NAMA and other industry coffee experts who provided a full day of panel discussions on topics such as “Opportunities in Coffee”, “Trends in Single Serve Coffee”, and “Sustainability and Preparing to Go Green.” Attended by approximately 90 people, extremely positive feedback was given as to the value and knowledge gained throughout the session. A huge thanks to committee members Tim Cleland, Larry Deagon, Phil Flores, Pete Tullio, Paul Tullio, Roger Stewart, and Dave Hart, and to the many panel members and participants who contributed to the success of this event. The CAVC board decided to repeat an educational session next year on a different topical subject to be determined. CAVC elected directors and offices, and honored an Operator and Supplier of the Year.

CAVC Reelected board members: Robert Donohue/Diverse Food Systems, Rawn Wannamaker/Canteen, David Yamauchi/Tri-Star Vending, Douglas Gillie/Vistar, Kathy O’Brien/Biscomerica, Pat Shaner/Sara Lee Coffee & Tea.

New directors: Larry Deagon/World Wide Vending, David Baker/Downey Vendors, Janette Carter/Focus 365.

CAVC Officers: President Douglas Gillie, 1st Vice President Kathy O’Brien, 2nd Vice President David Yamauchi, Treasurer Larry Atnip, and Secretary Dave Hart.

CAVC Operator of the Year was awarded to David Yamauchi/Tri-Star Vending

CAVC Supplier of the Year was awarded to Douglas Gillie/Vistar

The combined CAVC/AAMC Annual Members meeting began with speakers Rich Geerdes and Ned Monroe from NAMA. Members learned more about the exciting NAMA One Show in April 2010, as well as about federal government pending legislation concerning our industry. After an update from our California government advocate, Jennifer Snyder/Capital Advocacy, members were treated to an exciting presentation by Mark Adams/EnthusiAdams, Inc., “Turning It Around During Challenging Times.” Mark is an extremely motivational, inspirational, and dynamic speaker that ties business and professional challenges together. Backed by the newly created Strategic Plan created by CAVC this year, your CAVC is prepared to build on the spirit generated by this Annual Business Meeting and continue to work for its members in 2010.

As always, meetings cannot be held without our generous sponsors. Attached is a listing of sponsors for the Coffee Summit, and 20th Annual Bob Tonnee Golf Classic, and the CAVC/AAMC Annual Meeting. Thanks to all for your continued support.
